Jean Renoir was a French film director, screenwriter, actor, producer. Renoir's father was a merchant marine and his mother was a seamstress. He also had two older brothers, Alain and Pierre. When he was six years old, his family moved to Paris where he lived for the rest of his life
The move to Paris prompted his brother Pierre to change their surname from "de Renoir" to "de La Rochefoucauld" in 1903. His father also changed their surname to "Renoir" in 1905.
